Hey Leslie, thanks for joining in!
I agree that CounterPhobic Sixes do resemble Eights in some ways, but disagree that Dr. Cox is such. He's an Eight through and through.

Reasons:
You very rarely (almost never) see him afraid.
He values integrity above relationships (whereas a Six would be the other way around).
He spouts angry rants ALL the time.
He's egocentric to the point where he mentions in one episode that he has a fantasy where he's sitting to the side in a throne, surveying all.
He makes JD call him "The Big Cheese."
He laughs at the misfortune of others (Dr. Kelso, JD, Elliot, and Turk) and goes so far as to play pranks on them to incite misfortune...mainly because he thinks it's funny.
He fights the establishment and everyone else to protect those who truly suffer.
He sees almost everything in black and white.
He never suffers from indecision.
He's not particularly reckless (as a CounterPhobic Six would be, rushing into whatever scares them).

Yes, I also agree that Jordan, his wife, is ALSO an Eight. They're just different subtypes. My guess is that she's a Sexual subtype and Dr. Cox is a Self-Pres.

As Dr. Cox might say to JD, "your move there, Sally."

Love your blog...as I said on Twitter, my family and I have typed Dr. Cox as a counterphobic 6..1-1 subypes tend to be more counterphobic and Naranjo often calls them the "anti-6" as they look so much like an 8... (like my son...oh, okay, Dr. Cox IS my son)...kinetic energy of 6, fast paced talking, sarcastic wit, authority issues...wife, Jordan is an 8. Can you feel her instinctual energy, take no prisoners style of relating and her speaking style is 8-like as she speaks in "declaratives." And, her lust is great! I see this 6-8 combination often in relationships. So...for whatever it's worth, that's my family's take on some Scrubs characters. Thanks for playing!
